There is nothing quite like the high you get from a first kiss. You look into each other’s eyes, lean in, brush lips, and it’s almost like a bolt of electricity passing through you. It can be a deal breaker when it comes to relationships, so it’s important to get it just right.

If you’re going in for the lip lock, make sure your partner is prepared. It’s an important moment and catching them unawares has the potential for disaster. Is your partner sending the right vibes? Look at the body language. Is he or she relaxed, open, or closed off and reserved? If it is the latter, best try again later. Should it be the former, then look forward to the opportunity.

You’re both on the same wave-length, comfortable, and relaxed. It seems like the right time to make a move. Whatever you do don’t rush it. Tease and taunt; the anticipation makes it all the more fun.

Before you lean in for the kiss, make sure you are making eye contact. This makes all the difference. Have you ever heard the saying ‘the eyes are the windows to the soul’? You want the kiss to be memorable, so it’s all about the connection.

Arms hanging limply by one’s sides just seem awkward and unnatural. Body contact makes all the difference and creates a sense of intimacy that can take the kiss to the next level. You don’t want to grab or clutch. That will send the wrong signal, but you do want to get close. Be natural and do what feels right. Perhaps the hands around the waist or the nape of the neck, or just letting your fingers trail down your significant other’s arms, back or through their hair will seem right.

Less is more. No one likes a ‘washing machine’ kiss. Go slow and easy on the tongue. Start with light pecking and do involve it, but don’t force the kiss. Just take it naturally. If you’re unsure on what to do, stay safe and follow your partner’s lead.
